CDC Radio
CDC RADIO 101.9 FM, in Juchitan, Oaxaca

Centro de Compartimiento AC (CDC) has set up a community radio station in order to raise awareness and solicit local sponsors for the CDC interns and projects.

The radio is run by the CDC board and as well as promoting the CDC programs in the community the station gives young DJs a chance to develop a program and have air time experience.

The Casa Isabel students participate in the radio station once a week with a program that they develop.  The first series of programs that the students developed was about values; respect, honesty, tolerance, etc.  Each week they chose a value to talk about and elaborated an hour long program about it.  Usually the hour consisted of a tale showing the importance of the value, definition of the value, how to cultivate the value and the benefits of the value.  The shows are divided into four segments with musical interludes.  The teens were fearful at first but have begun to enjoy being on the radio. Futures series in the works include, human rights and environmental issues. The radio gives Casa Isabel a chance to teach some important themes to the interns in an innovative fashion; learn as you teach.

You can listen to the CDC radio on the web at:

The CDC interns including the Casa Isabel teens is on Sunday mornings at 8 am Central Standard Time.  All programming is in Spanish, but the music is universal.
